 Dengue fever is a viral disease and monsoon season comes with the threat of rise in the number of dengue cases. The Interact Club of M L Khanna DAV Public School Dwarka organized Dengue Awareness Campaign to spread awareness about dengue and promote a safer and healthier learning environment in school. An array of activities was organized to sensitise the students about dengue. Students made placards conveying the message to prevent dengue. A special assembly was organized to spread awareness about the importance of proper environment sanitation in the fight against dengue fever. A street play highlighting the causes, possible breeding sites of dengue mosquito and home remedies to prevent it, was presented by the interactors. An interesting monologue presented by Anushri of class VI dressed up like an Aedes mosquito conveyed the message ‘Prevention is better than cure’. Interactor Ananya Dubey recited a self composed poem on dengue. Dengue Awareness Campaign was also carried out wherein the interactors educated students of Pre-School to Class II about dengue mosquito. Sites like flower pots with water were deliberately created in the school for the drive to make the children the serious consequences of accumulation of water. The students guided by the interactors visited those sites wearing masks and gloves. Preventive and self protection measures to ‘Fight the Bite’ were elucidated to the school populace. Kerosene was sprayed by the gardener on the spot to demonstrate ways to kill the dengue mosquito. Students were encouraged to share the information gained on the fatal disease with their classmates and parents. Principal Ms Monika Mehan commended the efforts of the Interact Club and motivated the students to foster environmental safeguards and keep their surroundings sanitized to prevent dengue.

It is a matter of immense pride for M L Khanna DAV Public School, Dwarka as the Interact Club of the school has been honoured with three distinguished awards in a glittering and magnificent Thanks giving Ceremony ‘Miles, Milestones, Memories’ organised at The Taj Palace, New Delhi on 24th June 2017. It was an extremely gratifying moment for the school when Rotary International District 3012 District Governor Rtn Sharat Jain bestowed ‘Best Interact Club’ Award on the school in recognition of the notable contribution by the club in diverse areas of community service like organizing grand Polio Awareness Rally, Dengue Prevention, organizing Blood Donation and Health Check up Camps, providing Digital Literacy to underprivileged girls, conserving the environment, visiting orphanage and Old Age home and zealous participation of Interactors in various national and international events organized by Rotary. It’s important to mention that school got selected for this accolade among many schools of Delhi and NCR. Club Teacher Incharge Pratibha Nagpal and Club President Samiksha Puri got special appreciation by DG Sharat Jain by receiving Governor’s Best Interact Club Teacher Incharge and Governor’s Best Interactor respectively. These awards are an acknowledgement by Rotary International District 3012 of the sincere endeavours put in by the school for living up to the theme of Rotary International for 2016-17 ‘Rotary Serving Humanity’. Principal Monika Mehan expressed her happiness over the sterling achievement of the club. She congratulated Interact Club’s team and applauded its vigorous and enthusiastic efforts throughout the year.

The Interact Club of M L Khanna DAV Public School Dwarka celebrated International Labour Day to mark the recognition of dignity of labour. A special assembly was organized on the occasion to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the support staff of school. The celebration began with a speech delivered by Khushi of class IX highlighting the history and importance of labour day. Shivangi of class X recited a beautiful poem lauding the ceaseless efforts of the work force of the nation. Kislay of class X presented a mesmerizing and melodious song invoking Almighty to bless all human beings. A dramatic skit presented by the interactors emphasising the thought of giving equal respect to the labour class of the society was appreciated by all. Students expressed their regard for the support staff by making handmade cards for them. Their tokens of love were presented to them by the teachers of the school. Principal Monika Mehan and teachers presented them gifts as token of appreciation for their sincere efforts. Principal, through an interesting story, elucidated the importance of each community member of the society be it doctor, sweeper, teacher etc and motivated all to do their work with utmost sincerity and dedication. She also applauded the efforts of the Interact Club in making the day special for the support staff. They were overwhelmed and expressed their gratitude towards the Principal and the school.

The students of the Interact Club of  M L Khanna DAV Public 
School Dwarka had a wonderful experience of visiting Godhuli-Senior Citizens Home. Young interactors spent quality time with the senior citizens providing them the much needed warmth and make them feel special. Students saw vivid reflection of their grandparents in their loving eyes, reverberating laughter and wrinkled faces. Students indulged in entertaining the inmates and bringing precious smile on their faces. They presented a melodious song which touched everyone’s heart. A mesmerising Punjabi dance performance by the girls enchanted all. To make their day memorable, interactor Jitesh presented a monologue on transition from youth to old age. The act was appreciated by the elders. Fun and frolic with the senior citizens continued as students made them play Tamblola. Elderlies enthusiastically participated in it. Their excitement to win the game was priceless. Prizes were also given to the winners of the game. The students presented them handmade greeting cards. The glee on the faces of the veterans on reading the warm messages by children was worth seeing. Later, refreshment was also distributed to them. Students also presented gifts to them. Affectionate elders thanked everyone and hoped to see them soon. It was an enriching experience for all the students to interact with the inmates. Being in their company for a few hours, students developed a bond that would be cherished for years to come. Principal Monika Mehan applauded the initiative of the club and motivated the students to show love and respect towards the old people as they play an extremely important role in the society.

The Interact Club of M L Khanna DAV Public School, Dwarka celebrated Hindi New Year by organizing a special assembly. A melodious and mesmerizing song to welcome the new year was presented by the school choir. Significance of this special day was highlighted by Anshita Dash of class IX through a speech. Khushi of class IX recited a beautiful poem conveying the good wishes for new year. The meaning and importance of Arya Samaj principles were also explained by the students of Arya Yuva Club. Principal Monika Mehan extended her wishes to all on the special day which is even more significant for DAV fraternity as Swami Dayanand founded Arya Samaj on this very day. She apprised the students of the scientific importance of the Hindi Calendar. The assembly concluded with the oath in which students pledged to respect the values of Indian culture and imbibe in them its deep rooted values.
