Thalassemia Check up Camp

                             Thalassemia Check up Camp

Thalassemia is a genetic blood disorder. People with Thalassemia are not able to make enough hemoglobin, which causes severe anemia. To sensitise the students about this disorder, the Interact Club of the school organized a Thalassemia Check Up Camp.

As a prelude to the camp, a Thalassemia Awareness Campaign was conducted on 27th October 2017 wherein Dr. Tejinder Singh, Chairperson, Thalassemia Awareness Programme, Rotary District 3011, enlightened the students about Thalassemia. She briefed the students about the need of getting this test done .A documentary film was shown to the students in order to make them aware about the causes and remedies of Thalassemia. Awareness was spread that if parents are carriers of thalassemia, the child has a greater chance of inheriting a more serious form of the disease. A very informative talk on Thalassemia was also delivered by Principal Monika Mehan. The great response was reflected in the fact that a total of 92 students gave blood samples.


Thalassemia Check Up Camp was organised for the students of classes 8 to 10 on 15th November 2017 in association with Rotary Blood Bank Noida wherein 92 students got themselves tested for Thalassemia. The students were given refreshments after they got their blood tested. The interactors carried on their duties responsibly and enthusiastically to ensure the smooth functioning of the camp.

                              
                              
                              

                               










Hand Wash Campaign in school by Interactors

Hand Wash Campaign at M L Khanna DAV Public School, Dwarka

The Interact Club of M.L. Khanna D.A.V Public School Dwarka organized a ‘Hand Wash Campaign’ as a part of World Interact Week celebrations. It aimed to promote clean and hygienic habits among children.
 Interactors conducted a workshop for the students of classes Pre School to twelve in order to explain the correct procedure of washing hands. The interactors explained to their fellow schoolmates the need of washing hands properly. The students were also made aware of the fact that in order to maintain proper hygiene and good health, they need to pay attention on the cleanliness and hygiene of their hands. They elucidated all the students a 12 step tutorial with all the correct measures to be ensured while washing our hands.  The volunteers explained the steps in pairs. One student explained while the other student demonstrated the steps. The monitors from each class were given the demo by the interactors and they were in turn told to give the demonstration to their respective classes.






Interactors create Animal Shelter

The qualities of being empathetic, caring, loving and helpful make human beings superior to other living beings. So, we must utilize this precious gift of life by serving others. Keeping the same view in mind, the Interactors of M.L. Khanna D.A.V. Public School, Dwarka, took up this task of creating their own Animals and Bird shelters in the school premises. The Interactors created beautiful and attractive homes for stray dogs and cats; and birds. 
As one of the World Interact Week activities, a group of Interactors and teachers went to the nearby parks and streets and interviewed the local residents of the area, inquiring about the general problem faced by them due to stray animals. During their interaction with the locals, the students realized that the street animals faced several problems related to food and shelter. So, the Interactors decide to help these innocent beings by providing them homes to live.The Interactors observed and identified strategic areas where they placed Animal and Bird shelters. One, Animal shelter was placed outside the front gate of the school, another one in the adjacent DDA park. A few bird shelters were also place on various trees and boundary walls inside the school and in the neighbourhood park. Like this, the students exhibited their compassionate and empathetic side by providing homes to the homeless creatures around them.











   

Interactors visit Army Unit to express Gratitude to Army Personnel

Interactors express their Gratitude to the Army Personnel

Students of the Interact Club visit Army Unit As a part of ‘World Interact Week’ celebration, the Interactors of M.L. Khanna DAV Public School, Dwarka visited the Army Unit - 20 Mahar Regiment. to express their sincere thanks to the warriors of the country. This was a rare and unique opportunity for the school children and to get inspiration of the gigantic tasks of the Army Units.

The students were shown around the regiment by army officials. They were given detailed description on the way of usage of various arms and ammunition used by the Infantry. Army Officers explained to the school students various aspects of the artillery. Demonstration on the use of landmines and hand grenades was also given. Students felt exhilarated to have a view of the artillery used in battle ground.The Interactors expressed their gratitude to the army personnel by presenting them handmade cards and chocolates as a token of respect for their constant dedication towards the country.The students had a candid chat with the soldiers over tea and snacks, in which the students quenched their curiosity by asking questions about the life of soldiers. The interaction with the army personnel gave them an insight into the passion and zeal of the true patriots of the country. The visit also fuelled in some students the spirit to join army. The students learnt about their hard work and sacrifice and all that they go through for the safety of the country. It was a great opportunity for the students and the faculty members to visit the Army Unit and interact with the people who serve the nation.






Visit to Don Bosco Orphanage for Girls

Don Bosco Orphanage for Girls
Keeping up the spirit of ‘Service to Humanity’, the Interactors of M.L. Khanna D.A.V. Public School, Dwarka, recently visited 'Auxilium Snehalaya' Don Bosco Orphanage for Girls as a part of ‘World Interact Week’ celebrations. The students exhibited their compassionate and empathetic side by interacting with the girls. They spent a lot of time with them, listening to their songs, jokes and stories. They also discussed their daily routine with them. Interactors presented them woolens to give them warmth in the upcoming winters. Gift packets including stationery items and other items of utility were also presented to the orphaned girls by the interactors. Liquid hand wash bottles were also given to them with the feeling of providing them a hygienic environment. The children looked happy with all the goodies they received. Their smiles were the true gifts that the interactors could receive. 
As a prelude to this visit, the students of the Interact Club had initiated a Woolen Collection Drive in the school. Students also collected funds to buy gifts for the girls of the orphanage. They coordinated the entire visit with the mission that the purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be compassionate and to make some difference in others’ lives. The visit gave a new hope to the underprivileged people and learning to all that ‘No one has ever become poor by giving.’ It also helped in invigorating a feeling of empathy and social responsibility in our students towards the less fortunate ones of the society.

Anti Cracker Rally

Anti Cracker Rally

The Interact club of M.L. Khanna D.A.V. Public School Dwarka , organised an anti cracker rally on 16 October, 2017. Dr. B C Sabata , Sr. Scientific Officer, Govt. of NCT of Delhi was the chief guest on the occasion . The rally started from the school premises after getting flagged off by the chief guest and school Principal- Ms. Monika Mehan. The students passed through DDA flats and visited the Sector 6 market as well..The ineractors presented a Nukkad Natak in the market area showcasing the problems caused due to crackers and highlighting the ways to celebrate a green diwali. The enthusiastic students showcased handmade banners and shouted slogans like 'This Diwali Green Diwali' and 'Say no to crackers'. The rally marked the problems the environment faces due to the pollution caused by crackers.
As a prelude to the rally, a placard making activity was held in the club’s weekly meeting wherein Interactors made beautiful placards with slogans on ‘Say no to Crackers’.
The efforts of the club were applauded by the Principal and the people of the nearby areas.
