organizes
Thalassemia
Check up Camp
Thalassemia is a genetic
blood disorder. People with Thalassemia are not able to make enough hemoglobin,
which causes severe anemia. To sensitise the students about this disorder, the
Interact Club of the school organized a Thalassemia Check Up Camp.
As a prelude to the camp, a
Thalassemia Awareness Campaign was conducted on 27th October 2017 wherein Dr.
Tejinder Singh, Chairperson, Thalassemia Awareness Programme, Rotary District
3011, enlightened the students about Thalassemia. She briefed the students
about the need of getting this test done .A documentary film was shown to the
students in order to make them aware about the causes and remedies of
Thalassemia. Awareness was spread that if parents are carriers of thalassemia,
the child has a greater chance of inheriting a more serious form of the
disease. A very informative talk on Thalassemia was also delivered by Principal
Monika Mehan. The great response was reflected in the fact that a total of 92
students gave blood samples.
Thalassemia Check Up Camp
was organised for the students of classes 8 to 10 on 15th November 2017 in
association with Rotary Blood Bank Noida wherein 92 students got themselves
tested for Thalassemia. The students were given refreshments after they got
their blood tested. The interactors carried on their duties responsibly and
enthusiastically to ensure the smooth functioning of the camp.
