Promoting Protected Environment for Women

Promoting Protected Environment for Women

The Interact Club of DAV Dwarka constantly endeavours to work for raising awareness towards social concerns of the society. Continuing the tradition, the club invited the renowned Asmita Theatre Group, one of the leading Hindi theatre groups in the country committed to aesthetically innovative and socially relevant theatre to perform Dastak- a street play that sensitizes people and brings realization of the increasing incidents of atrocities against women in our country.

Cutting across class, profession, women face continuous and different forms of sexual harassment in crowded as well as secluded places. School and college students are most vulnerable to harassment and illicit behavior, particularly rampant in public transport, like buses. The artists of the group performed the play depicting the heinous violence and harassment against women at working and public places.

The soul stirring play gripped the students and they were fuelled with the spirit to raise their voice on violence against women in public areas. It was heartwarming to see boys coming forward and sharing their views with the artists after the play.

Asmita Theatre’s leading actor Shilpi Marwaha, who is also active in social awareness movements, motivated the students and advised them to resist such cases and promote a safe environment for women.

Principal Monika Mehan lauded the efforts of the Interact Club for organizing a wonderful play. She expressed her gratitude to the theatre group for creating awakening among the students.

It was a memorable day for DAV Dwarka to
have an opportunity to watch the performance by the Asmita Theatre Group.
