'When we join hands miracles happen'
The students of the Interact Club of DAV Dwarka participated in the Polio Awareness Rally on 21 February 2015. It was organised by the Rotary club of Delhi Uptown in Ashok Vihar. The rally was flagged off amidst a lot of fun fare. All the eminent Rotarians apprised the school children gathered there about the importance of eradicating polio from the roots to keep India polio free. The sky was filled with the blue and white balloons which were released in the air to mark the commencement of the rally. A lively pipe band led the rally. Rotarians from countries like Denmark, UK, Luxemburg, Austria, Belgium and Japan were present in large numbers and they enthusiastically took part in the rally.
Students carrying flags,
placards and banners marched through the streets of the nearby JJ Colony with
great fervour. Many of the foreign delegates led the rally on camel back. It
was a well managed rally with proper police, water and ambulance arrangements.
The rally ended at a DAV School in Ashok Vihar. The president of the club and
the other senior Rotarians thanked the children and the International delegates
for their whole hearted participation. It was moment when the members of the
international rotary clubs expressed their feelings by singing songs in their
mother tongues. The rally was a prelude to the Pulse Polio drive which was to
be conducted on 22 february 2015. Refreshments were provided to the
participants.
