Blood Donation Camp

Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” Martin Luther King Jr.

Saturday, 21 December 2013 : A Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was organised by the Interact Club of D.A.V. Dwarka in the school premises. It was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Delhi Uptown. As a prelude to the Camp, a Poster Making Competition was conducted for students of classes 6 to 8 and a Slogan Writing Competition for students of classes 9 & 10 on the topic 'Donate Blood'. The children made beautiful posters and wrote catchy and touching slogans. This was done to sensitize them  towards the importance of donating blood, to learn to enrich their own lives by giving it meaning and purpose through selfless service and to carry across the message to their parents and the society at large to donate blood and save precious lives.
The Blood Donation Camp was inauguarated by the President of Rotary Club of Delhi Uptown Sh. P.K. Gupta. Rotarians Sh. Sushil Gupta and Sh. Narendra Agarwal were also present. The prize winners of the Poster Making Competition and the Slogan Writing Competition were awarded cash prizes and Certificates of Merit. Sh. P.K. Gupta appreciated and applauded the Principal Ms Monika Mehan, staff and all the students of the school for their efforts. The Principal and some staff members of the school also donated blood. A signature campaign in support of blood donation was carried out. The members of club worked tirelessly to make the event a huge success.

Heartfelt feedback of club members

27 November 2013: It was a truly touching experience. I learnt qualities like patience and perseverance from them. I felt inspired to do something for the children. Divya Gavane 9D

I always fought with my mother when ever she refused to fulfill my demands. After meeting with the children I realized how wrong I was and how lucky I am. Urvashi 9D

I realized the importance of parents and how lucky I am. I will never take anything for granted now.
K. Soumya 9 D

I had heard that when God takes something from us he gives us something in return. The little children I met were happy. Their was no sign of grief or sorrow despite their difficult life. They did not crib or complain and had hope for a better future. Rishabh Pandey IX D
